Who'd A Thought?

Who’d a thought this adult who was afraid to make changes would meet her Prince and relocated from her birthplace of Chicago to a small town in Southeast Alabama?

Who’d a thought this person who thought all religions were the same and everyone believed in the same god would accept Christ as her personal Lord and Savior?

Who’d a thought this same person who would not discuss her beliefs in Christ for fear of being laughed at or ridiculed is now sharing those same beliefs in My First Steps with Jesus?

Who’d a thought the once shy kid who would break out in a sweat if the teacher called on her in class and failed college philosophy because she was too afraid to participate in class discussions is writing a her feeling and thoughts for everyone to see?

Don’t label and put yourself in a box saying you can’t do it because one day you may look back and say Who’d A Thought?

Has anybody noticed the return of cliffhangers on TV shows this year? I haven’t seen cliffhangers this good since Who Shot JR. In the few shows I watch I have to wait until next year to hear Amita’s response to Charlie’s proposal on Numbers; find out if Izzy and George both die, both live or one lives and one dies on Grey’s Anatomy; does anybody rush in to save Violet before the delusional patient cuts her baby out of her on Private Practice; did Cal give Matt the editor’s job that Daniel gave to Betty on Ugly Betty; will rehab work and will sobriety change House’s personality on House. OK the last 2 really aren’t cliffhangers but it’s still something I’ll be thinking about until the fall season starts.

Two other shows I watch are going through identity crises. I already wrote about Ghost Whisperer who is confused and thinks it’s Charmed. We’ve got the Watchers who resemble the Elders, The Spirits of Light who are all around Melinda resemble the White Lighters and Leo and Melinda’s unborn baby who will be able to do more than she does which resembles Wyatt, Piper’s baby who was destined to have greater powers. Then there’s Medium which is becoming Ghost Whisperer. This show is based on the real Allison DuBois who’s supposedly psychic (I say supposedly because I don’t believe in psychics and ghosts but that’s another post). Allison was getting her visions in her dreams. Last season she started seeing and talking to ghosts who help her out on cases or haunt her and try to thwart her investigations by messing with her dreams. Now her daughter is having visions and seeing ghosts. I guess if something is popular they all want to jump on the bandwagon but just because it works for one show doesn’t mean it will work for others. Some of these changes are changing the initial idea or theme and to me it’s weakening the show. I liked Medium the way it was but to suddenly change the way Allison sees things or gets her vibe is not working for me. Ghost Whisperer is different, even though there are similarities with other shows this one really changed when Jim’s spirit jumped into another man’s body. I guess that’s taking an idea from Invasion of the Body Snatchers but that was a movie. I guess the closest I can come to in a TV show is My Mother the Car with Jerry Van Dyke where his mother’s spirit inhabits his car and he hears her voice (Ann Sothern) through the car radio. Yes, I’m dating myself mentioning that show.

I’m beginning to think the TV shows I watch are having identity crisis’ and think they’re other shows. First in Medium Allison started seeing and talking to ghosts, visions of Ghost Whisperer. Now Ghost Whisperer is beginning to look like Charmed.

Tonight we saw Melinda being tormented by dreams which she thinks are about her unborn baby. She’s seeing a little girl without a face telling her she can’t protect her so she thinks she’s having a girl only to be told later by Jim that it’s a boy. He snuck a peak at a note on her latest sonogram. The Watchers are back and they’re trying to hide the Book of Changes. Eli has been given the task of being its protector. The Watchers talk about the other side which could only be the side of darkness and they’re not to interfere in events but can guide people. One Watcher, Carl, tells Melinda she has white light and spirits all around her to protect her. When she asks if her son will be able to do what she does Carl tells her no. He then whispers in her ear, he’ll do much more.

Where do I see the comparison of Charmed in this?

Ghost Whisperer________________Charmed

Book of Changes____________________Book of Shadows
The Watchers_______________________The Elders
White light and spirits around her_______The White Lighters
Melinda’s son being able to do more_____Piper’s son Wyatt more powerful

The high point of the season and this episode was The Wedding. Yes, Melinda and Jim got married. Not the ceremony her mother was planning by hiring a wedding planner with an ice sculptor and orchestra but a quiet ceremony that Jim surprised her with. He drug Melinda and Delia away from the wedding planner to his car with Eli waiting in the back seat. They ended up on the street where Melinda and Jim first met. As they were talking a minister showed up and they got married in the middle of the street. As the camera panned out there were the five of them and a couple dozen ghosts.

Now I’m wondering if next season will start with the birth of the baby or will the baby already be born and a toddler. The reason I’m questioning is because I’d read that the baby will be Melinda’s apprentice.

Future of Season 5:

James Van Praagh who developed Ghost Whisperer gave an interview to ET’s Thea Andrews about Bea Arthur’s passing and talked a little about Ghost Whisperer. He either had a slip of the tongue or is pulling our leg when he talks about Melinda’s baby. To watch the video go to KGET.com

Good news for Ghost Whisperer fans, it looks like it won’t be moving to another network, CBS has renewed it for next season.

Ghost Whisperer Extras:

If you want to win a tour of the Ghost Whisperer’s set in Los Angeles enter the sweepstakes at Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side III. In this series you get to see the world through the eyes of a ghost. Watch the short, less than 5 minutes each, episode for more chances. After the final episode you can participate in the story by helping Melinda look for her and Jim’s missing wedding rings.

I have a question that I don’t think has been answered this season. At the end of last season, Season 3, Melinda, Jim, Delia, Ned and Prof. Payne were standing on a curb. Payne noticed that there were 5 people but only 4 shadows. That seemed to be an omen that one of them wasn’t there or would be gone. That was never addressed this season. Was that completely forgotten about, was it saying that Payne was leaving Grandview or was it foretelling Jim’s death?

Bossy Doggy

My puppy Ellie is starting to talk to me. Well she does have a blog with her sister Stretch so I knew it was just a matter of time before she started talking.

Ellie has always been good at letting you know she wanted to be petted, she puts her nose under your hand and flips it so it landed on top of her. She lets you know she wants her chest rubbed by sitting on your lap and pointing her nose to the sky. When she wants a treat she will look in the direction of their treat jar and when she wants out she’ll sit in front of the door.

For the past couple of weeks she’s been talking more and more about different things and she’s getting very bossy about it. If I’m in another room or not paying attention to her she’ll come up and lick my leg then sit and look at me. When I finally ask her to show me what she wants she’ll run in another room and go to whatever it is she wants, whether it’s the door or her treat jar. If I’m in the living room watching TV she’ll run down the hall to the bedroom to say let’s go to bed in the BIG bed or I want you in the computer room with me and Daddy. Today she did her thing and when she ran in the living room she jumped on the arm of the love seat and looked at the closet door. Her leash is in the closet and the arm of the love seat is where she sits while we hook it to her collar. She wanted to go out front and check the mail.

I’m thinking I’ve got the most intelligent puppy in the world but don’t tell her sister Stretch that, she gets jealous easily.

So last night Melinda had to convince a girl being haunted that it was a ghost not a vampire. According to Melinda: "Vampires don’t exist, I should know”. I know a few people who could suck the life out of you and some would refer to them as Vampires so I will argue that yes, vampires do exist.

Back to the show: Time has started moving forward, then back again for Melinda’s baby bump. It was semi there in the beginning then when she was in her living room with Jim and Eli it was so much there Jim had to help her sit, stand and get on the floor to her computer. Then later she was running through the house and streets in a nightgown, and then running through a cemetery looking for the living and the dead. OK, I know it’s a little thing but it does annoy me when there's inconsistency.

Next week is the big day, the wedding and the season finale. Jason Brooks ex Peter Blake from Days of Our Lives will be in this episode. The Watchers will be back. You remember the Watchers, the group of ghosts who have been in several episodes this season and a little last season. I guess they’re able to predict the future by observing the past. They know something about Melinda’s baby who will play a huge role next season, Season 5, as her apprentice. What does that mean, I guess we’ll have to watch next season to find out.

Now for some news about Ghost Whisperer and next season:

There’s a chance that a number of shows may be moving to different networks. Due to tighter renewing contracts for the shows and tighter budgets this year CBS may not want to pay the increase in license fees several shows have been offered to other networks. Yes, Ghost Whisperer was one of them. There’s still a chance they’ll stay on their original networks but don’t be surprised if you see a change.

The M&M Diet

While watching TV the other night there was an ad for Alli for weight loss and I got to thinking of all the weight loss products out there. These products cost money and sometimes a lot of it. Alli’s about $60 a month, Dexatrim about $25 a month. Add to this the cost of food, fresh fruit and vegetables can be a little more costly than cookies and chips and pizza. Yeah, weight loss can be expensive but well worth it.

I know of a way to save money while loosing weight though. I call it the M&M Diet. Take 1 M&M each morning and follow the instructions that are included with every weight loss product out there. Follow a sensible diet and add exercise. You can get a 1.69 oz bag of M&M’s for $1 or less and I’m sure there’s enough in each bag for a month or more.

Anybody in the blogging world knows it costs money to actually own your own blog or website. There are free domains and hosting out there and I’m one of those who got my feet wet that way. Actually I still have a blog or two on using a sub domain of a free site. This blog is my baby and as such I give it special treatment in the way of giving it its own address and own look by tweaking a template to make it unique and one of a kind. The last step I need to do is to change the neighborhood of where my blog lives. No, I won’t have to change the address but I will have to have it hosted elsewhere and actually pay a monthly fee to do that.

Choosing a host for your blog or website is overwhelming. There are so many places out there and each one promises you this or that but it’s a bit confusing. There are such things as space, data transfer and how much are you allowed each month. Then there’s the hassle of trying to figure out how much you’ll be using. After all, you don’t want to overspend and buy the Cadillac if webhosting if the Kia will do. Now you could ask for recommendations but for every person who recommends a place for hosting you’ll have another with horror stories.

I still don’t know what all the jargon means as far as the different companies go but there’s a website out there, webhosting, that has the hosting providers listed in one place so you can compare. They even have a blog that explains all the terminology making it easier to decide where you need to go. My favorite so far is Web Hosting 101. It explains everything very neatly.

Now I know when I’m ready to take the monthly plunge into actually owning my blog with paid hosting I have someplace to learn what to do.

Why does everyone in Hollywood feel the public is interested in their sexuality? I don’t care who’s gay or bisexual but they seem to want to cram it down my throat anyway. This week alone I’ve seen headlines on Netscape that Kelly McGillis and David Ogden Stiers have made the shocking admission they’re gay and Pink is bisexual. Who cares?

The Hollywood fad use to be who’s sleeping with whom or who’s sleeping with whose wife/husband until that became common. Then it was who’s in rehab but again, that’s common. A couple of years ago it was who’s been arrested or going to jail but you guessed it, that’s the norm. Everything looses its shock value in time. Now it’s “let’s tell the world about my sexual preferences.” I have a good idea; start a new fad called “I’m keeping what goes on behind closed doors private.” That would be a real shock but I don’t think it would catch on, after all, the Hollywood Reporters have to earn a living some how.
